JUly + ground

This Month, as we look to nature we see:

  • In the northern hemisphere, it’s the first full month of summer

  • Mother Earth, Animals, Trees, and Plants are growing strong arriving at full growth.

  • Nature, though fully rooted and grounded, is ready to offer her spectacular visuals, wisdom, sound, and nutrition.

What does grounded mean?

The Earth is like a gigantic battery that contains a natural, subtle electrical charge, a special kind of energy present in the ground. For safety and stability, most everything in the electrical world is connected to it, whether it is an electric power plant or your refrigerator. That’s what the term “grounded” means. Being grounded also applies to people. When you are electrically grounded, you feel:

  • Centered

  • Solid

  • Strong

  • Balanced

  • Less tense

  • Less stressed

Other health benefits of being grounded

Decreased levels of inflammation + pain, reduced stress levels, and improved circulation.

Ways to Ground, also called “Earthing”

  • Walking barefoot on the earth is the #1 way to ground. Get those socks and shoes off and walk on the grass, dirt, and sand.

  • Lying on the ground, if you can’t take your shoes off, is effective too.

  • Submersing in the water is also a way to ground, if you have a chance to jump in an ocean or lake this season.

A non-nature alternative to grounding

There are grounding mats, blankets, socks, and patches that imitate the same effects.

JULY Journal Prompts

  • % Grounded

If you had to guess at how grounded you feel, what is the number that pops in your mind?

Don’t overthink, whatever comes up first is perfect and write it down, along with the date.

  • % Not Grounded

Now, how often do feel not grounded? What is the number that first pops into your mind?

Again don’t overthink this. Write down what comes to mind first, along with the date.

  • Reflection

Looking at your numbers do you need to ground more this summer, or maintain? Both are valid, there are no right answers.

If you need more grounding, write down ways you can. If you are grounded, brainstorm new ways you can ground this summer season.

JULY CREATIVE ACTIVITY

Nature Art

Create Art From Found Nature

This is one of my favorite creative activities in nature. Whether you write your name in the sand or create a mandala from leaves, stones, and flowers… you can easily make art out of nature anywhere.

Have fun on your next hike or beach day and create beauty in the world.

Love,

Meg
