Name Poem

Creating name poems was an ancient practice from the Celtic bards (storytellers/poets). They were prayers, affirmations, and even spells that were spoken or sung. A powerful way to document history of the community and also a creative way to share stories of their lives.

As a lifelong poetess, I was fascinated and excited to create my own. Over a few days I meditated and reflected on where I have been and where I am now to see what enfolded. I hope you enjoy as much as I enjoyed writing it. And if you feel called, I encourage you to give it a try. Think of moments, experiences, symbols, and anything else that comes up to incorporate into your very own name poem.

Name Poem: Megan Grace Oldenburg

Truth seeker in me

Story teller for you

Reading, writing, and experiencing

the FIRE of aries and godess brigid

the WATER of sobriety and healing

the EARTH of wisdom and change

the AIR of freedom and two wheels, or wings

Being a demonstration of

the art of living naturally

in circles, cycles, and phases

Conversing with the birds regularly

to guide me within

Again, and again

I begin
