December + Transformation

In December, as we look to nature we see transformation everywhere:

  • Air is cooler

  • Days are darker

  • Leaves have fallen and all trees are exposed + bare

  • All signs of summer are gone as we make final preparations for wintertime

Definition of transformation:

  • a: to change in composition or structure.

  • b : to change the outward form or appearance of.

  • c : to change in character or condition

Take this month to consider where in your life you have experienced transformation this past year and what new transformation will you experience in the coming year.

Since change is inevitable, transformation is inevitable.

By mirroring Nature, year after year, you will get into the flow of anticipating transformation as part of your year. As natural.

It will not always be easy or comfortable, but natural and expected. You aren’t the only one going through changes - it’s not personal. I find great comfort in that, I hope you do too.

So witness the trees being bare, vulnerable, and preserving their energy to last the upcoming winter season. Likewise you can find wisdom in being bare and vulnerable. Be inspired to rest during the beginning of a new transformation rather than push. Discover ways that you can love on yourself when you are tender, rather than judge or critique yourself.

This month is all about mindfully noticing what you have shed, let go of, and begun to transform this fall season, as the next evolution of you is incubating throughout the winter.

The magic of December is undeniable, once you see it above the marketing of holiday season.

December Journal Prompts

Transformation

  • Do you feel you are transforming by your own choice or circumstance? How does it feel?

Your answer may be both! You want to change and circumstances are forcing you to.

  • Do you have folks around you who do not support your transformations (past or present)?

Be aware of who you surround yourself when you are tenderly evolving. Some loved one’s project their fear of change on you by judging you.

  • Write a Thank you Letter to your previous self. What did you learn from her?

Acknowledging + respecting who you have been, whether you “liked” that version of you or not, is a compassionate way to move forward.

December CREATIVE ACTIVITY

Shadow Masks

Transformation isn’t always easy and looking at the not so glorious parts of ourselves is humbling. I may sound like a broken record, but they are natural, therefore to continue growing and maturing we need to face all sides of ourselves.

So have some fun getting to know the hidden side of you by creating a shadow mask.
